Twelve Months: The Opportunities Dice Game 🎲 ⁣ ⁣

A day-long workshop led by Gordon Douglas on (un)luckiness, seasonable fortune, meritocracy, and destiny. The day began with Twelve Months: The Opportunities Dice Game, a roleplaying game set during a speculative year, 2022. Playing as artists navigating a shared landscape of open calls through the Creative Scotland Opportunities tool, the game intends to provoke questions around the language of opportunity, ethics of collaboration, and stratification of cultural capital.⁣ ⁣ The day ended with the development of these fictional characters and the opportunities that shape them; Douglas Jordan (b. 1982) is an interdisciplinary artist based between Glasgow (South Side) and Berlin whose work explores collective cartographies of the present. Jordan was selected for Satellites 2021 before becoming a Talbot Rice resident. He took a break from the public eye after a controversial international residency which caused public outcry in the Scottish art scene but has since gone on to represent Scotland at the Venice Bienalle. Douglas Jordon is pleased to announce his recent appointment to the role of Director for Glasgow International 2023.⁣ This workshop was co-commissioned with Transmission Glasgow. Thank you Gordon, for developing this workshop and for making it consistently EXTRA over the past 4 years. Thank you to Anika and Transmission.
